USP
- There are several of these devices present in the market from different manufacturers.
- They are generally employed for administering drugs to patients who require slow release kind of medicines. In order to be up and about (ambulatory patients), they can carry such a device in their pocket and receive the medicine via injection.
- The particular advantage of this set-up over others is that it is cheaper, rugged and less energy expensive but still, automatic and with equal number of options. (Options are - variation in the injection flow rate, pre-setting the amount to be injected, digital read-out etc)
- Compared with present similar technologies these devices might be losing popularity with the passage of time because orally administered slow-release medicines have come into the market and have proved to be a less invasive alternative.
- Cost: Rs. 5000/-
