Bench-Scale Technology For Manufacture of Pro-Biotics
The Technology
The technology is all about manufacturing endospores of a pro-biotic bacterium at a lab scale. The probiotic endospores can be formulated towards the development of some neutrateuticals for their marketing as health and wellness products.
USP
- Maximum of 6 x 1012 spores/gm have been obtained.
- The process is optimized and stabilized in a 10 l reactor and requires scale up in collaboration with an industry.
Advantages
- The probiotic strain is fully characterized in terms of its microbiological, morphological, biochemical and molecular (16 SrDNA) character. This confirms to all the characteristics of a GRAS organism (US FDA).
- The strain produces endospores for facilitating storage under non-refrigirative condition.
- Potency of the pro-biotic biomass is very high as compared to the existing products. L (+) Lactic acid level is also high as compared to existing products.
- The culture has been proven to produce bacteriocin like antimicrobial substances, antioxidant exopolysaccharides
