The Technology
Conventional skin nourishing herbal formulations, which are commonly available in the market, use ingredients which are not 100% herbal. They use one or more ingredients from field grown plant tissues which are mixed with various other substances and preservatives to increase the shelf life and the efficiency of the product. Thus, currently there is no known commonly available product in the market which is purely herbal. A biological process for the manufacture of herbal skin nourishing gels has been developed at the Department of Biotechnology of IIT Kharagpur which aims at manufacturing a product which is purely herbal.
