Extraction of Natural Sweeteners from Stevia Leaves.
The Technology
This technology deals with the production of natural sweeteners, steviosides and glycosides from stevia leave extracts. These components are considered to be about 100-150 times sweeter than sugar. The technology involves extraction of sweeteners from leaves in a water bath at optimum pH and temperature. The liquor is subjected to specialized membrane based separation processes to produce concentrated liquor or crystals.
USP
A product with significant market potential, entirely a green process (no chemical added at any stages). The product, presently being used as a substitute for sugar in some high-end hotels has the prospect of being marketed with tea bags suitable for diabetic patients
